Annual Professional of the Year Banquet
The Armenian Professional Society's Annual Professional of the Year Banquet will take place on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank. The event begins with the cocktail hour at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7:30 pm.
This year's honoree is "California Courier" publisher, Harut Sassounian. Mr. Sassounian, who has a Master's Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Pepperdine University, has received special awards for his contributions to the Armenian people and nation. He is the founder and president of the United Armenian Fund and the Senior Vice President of Kirk Kerkorian's Lincy Foundation. From 1978 to 1982 he worked in Geneva, Switzerland as an international marketing executive for the Procter and Gamble Company and he served for ten years as a non-governmental delegate on human rights at the United Nations. Mr. Sassounian played a leading role in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the UN in 1985.
The APS, celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, is an organization dedicated to the support and mentoring of students of Armenian descent. The names of this year's Scholarship recipients will be announced at the banquet. The evening's entertainment will be provided by dancers from the Lark Music Conservatory.
Tickets for students and young professionals are $50 each. All other tickets are $100.00 per guest, and reservations are required by November 1, 2007. For more information contact Araxie at (818) 891-3200.
