APS Dinner and Lecture

featuring

Bill Roschen

Principal Architect

Roschen Van Cleve Architects

discussing

"Shaping Los Angeles"

We are looking forward to seeing you at our next dinner/meeting which is set for Friday, June 2nd at Spazio in Sherman Oaks.

For this meeting we are very fortunate to have as our speaker architect Bill Roschen. Bill Roschen, Principal of Roschen Van Cleve Architects, will give an engaging visual presentation entitled "Shaping Los Angeles".

Roschen Van Cleve Architects (RVCA) was founded in 1987 with the intention of becoming a community oriented, urban architectural practice. Bill's professional resume has emphasized civic engagement and innovation to implement livable communities. RVCA's work is a case study in how revitalization, preservation and integration of historic fabric contribute to reenergizing the urban environment. Los Angeles Business Journal honored RVCA as the "Architecture Firm of the Year" for 2005. Recently, one of RVCA's current projects, the Los Angeles City College Northeast Campus at the Historic Van de Kamp Bakery, became the first construction conversion project in the United States to achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM, the United Kingdom's equivalent of LEED) rating.

A recognized leader in the profession and the community, Bill is frequently asked to speak on a national/regional basis on topics including sustainable design, livable urbanism, preservation, adaptive reuse, and civic engagement. Bill's community involvement recently resulted in his appointment to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission by Mayor Villaraigosa.

Additionally, during our meeting Haig Armaghanian, APS 1st Vice President, will present the results from a series of APS planning sessions. He will give an overview of the strategic direction that APS would like to pursue over the next 2-3 years. Haig will be soliciting feedback from members, past presidents and guests during this very interactive session.

Of course, since this is a dinner/meeting, we will have a delicious dinner along with good wine and fellowship.
